Care Of Worms

Worms don't like being very cold and wet, and they most certainly don't like their environment totally drying out, so a shady spot in your garden, shed, or garage will be ideal for them.

Keep your worms farm moist and dark, as they like it that way.   Try keeping some shredded newspaper, or a piece of cardboard on top of the food scraps.   This will help keep the worms comfortable and moist, and will also be eaten by them when it starts to rot down.

If you notice that the worms aren't getting through all the food that is there, no problem, just stop feeding them for  a while and put the scraps into the compost bin instead!

You'll find that soon there is some liquid collected in the catchment area of your worm farm - this is great for your garden, and mixed with water, can be used straight away.

Later you'll also find that there is some worm faeces; don't say 'Yech!', as this is also great for your plants, and really improves your soil.   Just water it down, spread it around your garden and watch everything grow.
